Core Health has instituted safeguards, policies, and procedures to protect patients’ health information in compliance with the final rule issued by the United States Department of Health and Human Services regarding the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH).

The entire Core Health care delivery environment is web-based and includes the AthenaHealth electronic medical record system and Hint Health practice management software, all of which are HIPAA-compliant and are cloud-hosted in geographically dispersed data centers for redundancy, reliability, and resilience. No individual information is stored onsite, and there are no servers onsite.

Mandatory HIPAA privacy and security training is mandated for all workforce members, and all data access is restricted to approved employees based on job function.
